Why Choose Polywood?
POLYWOOD is one of the most well-known producers of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) furniture. All POLYWOOD furniture is made from genuine POLYWOOD® lumber, a proprietary material made using landfill-bound and ocean-bound plastics.
Designed to withstand even the harshest elements—from hot sun to heavy blizzards— POLYWOOD outdoor furniture is resistant to stains and corrosive substances and isn’t prone to splinter, crack, chip, peel, or rot. POLYWOOD recycles an average of 400,000 landfill-bound and ocean-bound plastic containers every day. Truckloads of recycled plastic are transformed into genuine POLYWOOD® lumber, which is made into high-quality POLYWOOD outdoor furniture.
What’s more, POLYWOOD’s array of outdoor furnishings—which includes Adirondack chairs, dining, benches, lounging, deep seating, and more—feature color-stay technology and are backed by a 20-year warranty.
“HDPE furniture is amazingly low-maintenance and virtually indestructible—but better yet, this furniture has a great sustainability story,” says AuthenTEAK CEO Eric Brenner. “Not only does the POLYWOOD brand of furniture put ocean-bound plastics to good use, but because their furniture is so well made, it does not have to be replaced very often.”
AuthenTEAK is proud to offer a comprehensive selection of POLYWOOD products, with the best and most up-to-date lead times. Our team has decades of experience with POLYWOOD furniture, and our team of experts is available to answer any product or design questions. We also offer POLYWOOD products on display in our 15,000-square-foot, award-winning Atlanta showroom, so you can experience them in person before making a purchase.
Product Protection
Plastic Frame Care
POLYWOOD material is made of HDPE plastic resin that has been purified and UV protected. It is generally cared for and cleaned with soap and warm water. For certain stains and additional cleaning power, a 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water solution can be used on the product without affecting the color. Also, a popular method of cleaning is a high pressure power wash. (Not to exceed 1,500 psi, which is the equivalent of a car wash.) The surface characteristics of the product may require the use of a soft bristle brush to get into the creases.
The hardware used in the assembly and construction of our furniture is an 18-8 commercial grade stainless steel that has an additional Xylan protective and cosmetic coating. Although the quality of the hardware has a high level of corrosive resistance, the hardware can show some sign of corrosion in salt air environments.
A practical solution to these signs of corrosion would be to wash the product with soap and water. Use a soft bristle brush to scrub the corroding areas of the hardware. Also, use appliance touch up paint in the appropriate color to protect the hardware. Appliance touch up paint can be purchased at local hardware stores.
Cushion Care
POLYWOOD's cushions are made using high quality 100% solution-dyed acrylic or acrylic blended Sunbrella fabrics, and the finest outdoor foam and fiberfill. Fabrics have been factory treated to resist stains and mildew. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water using a sponge or soft brush is recommended. To remove mildew stains, use a solution of one cup bleach and one half cup laundry detergent mixed in a gallon of warm water. Apply solution to the seating surface, allow to soak for ten minutes, thoroughly rinse and allow to air dry before using. Cushions will dry at a much faster rate when removed from the frames and placed on their sides or edges.
